Mind the razor sharp edges! Deck was slightly deformed, and the blade on the discharge side hit the deck, requiring a hammer massage, which was when the sharp edges of the discharge area sliced the crap out of my arms. wound up needing to grind the tip of that blade down a bit to clear it. Can't reasonably expect something like this to be deburred completely, but "razor sharp" is not exaggeration, & applies to the entire discharge area. Some deburring would have been good. grass catches on sharp edges too, & clogs it. For the price, it's not bad. Interference of blade/deck is probably a fluke, but count on grinding burrs off for proper discharge, plus paint to avoid it rusting after rework. My install time reflects this.

Mower deck replacement

Everything was as expected. It came with everything that you would need and only had to take the guide wheels off the original deck. It did require a minor amount of adjustment to the connecting arms, but that is to be expected.

The material appears thinner than the original deck that came with it. The deck included the deck belt, a nice surprise. Easy to swap out. Easy to install.

How to keep an old mower cutting like new

The 42" deck assembly for my 20+ year old Craftsman mower was about 90% complete and ready to install. The deck does not come with the anti-scalping wheels or their mounting brackets so they must be moved over from you old deck or purchased separately. Belt and even blades ARE included, as is a new deflector and spring mount. Getting the spring assembly mounted to the deck was the hardest part of the job. Youtube had a video which finally explained to me how to do it. Moving the wheels and brackets was also somewhat time consuming
