very simple exchange of the old broken glass with the new. I used a piece of the cardboard that the new glass top came in and placed all heating elements on that. Then simply I moved the card board over the new top and drop each one on theor position.

Definitely a DIY Job--Don't Be Afraid!

After 15 years, the original top developed a serious crack, necessitating replacement. The part was shipped in a very protective box. Removal of the old top was a matter of turning off the power at the breaker box, popping off the controls, lifting the old top up out of its counter cut out, removing several small sheet metal screws that affixed the top to a metal support and the heating elements to the old top. Installing new part was a matter of reversing the removal procedure. There was a slight gap between the new top and the counter, so I used some clear silicone caulk to create a clean seal.
