bypass valve mis-diagnosis

The reason I replaced this part is because the filter bypass valve went bad. It mimicked a clogged filter. The water would only trickle from the dispenser as if the filter was clogged but replacing the 50 dollar filter didn't solve the issue. The water would flow normal though the dispenser without the filter. So I replaced the bypass valve which is located in the filter housing. But beware you won't find any help or any advice on this issue from either Whirlpool or anyone online all. No one anywhere at all mentioned that the filter bypass valve could be the problem. No repair videos online at all either mentioned a faulty bypass valve. Even from the professional repair companies.

Works like a charm, slightly different purple

Perfect fit to fix our problem. The only thing to note is that the color arrows that you match to the filter are a little different color purple. I was worried that it might not fit the same filter but it worked like a charm. Bought this replacement after carbon build up from a secondary line filter clogged the old one making it refuse a filter and shoot water l
