Fairly Simple Repair with some things to watch for
December 16, 2020

I would recommend downloading the Bosch repair manual for the dishwasher before you begin because there were a couple of things I referred to while completing this repair. I would recommend spending the time to completely drain the inside sump before doing anything else. The repair manual says to use would blocks to raise the tank and separate the base for pulling the pump motor off. I found it easier to lay remove the base screws from the front and back of the base first, then lay the machine on its back because you need to pull the cables off the door spring. While it is still on its back you can then remove the pump motor rubber stays, and pull the base far enough away to get the pump out. The motor has a small plastic detent in the 4-oclock position, then rotate the pump counter-clock wise. Once the pump motor is off, you can then use a screwdriver to hold the motor from turning, and then unscrew the impeller. Once the impeller is off, you can rotate the pump housing to remove it from the motor. This is critical to replace the spacer from the kit. Then you can replace the pump bushing, screw on the new impeller, and then replace the pump main gasket (big o ring). The whole assembly is put back together with a clockwise rotation of the pump motor. I went careful and slow and it took me about 5 hours for the entire disconnect to cleanup process but only about 5 minutes for the actual impeller replacement. Getting the unit disconnected from the water and electricity, all of the pieces you need to remove and put back on, then reconnecting and leveling the unit takes all the time.
