Top GeneralAire humidifier replacement parts

  • Humidifier pad. The humidifier pad (also called the evaporator pad) holds water absorbed from the reservoir. As the fan blows air across the pad, moistened air circulates into the home. Replace the humidifier pad yearly. Also replace the humidifier pad if it’s clogged or damaged.
  • Solenoid valve. The solenoid valve controls water flow into the reservoir to keep the humidifier pad wet. Replace the solenoid valve if it doesn't open, causing the humidifier pad to dry out. You also need to replace the solenoid valve if it doesn't shut, causing the dehumidifier to constantly leak water.
  • Fan motor. The fan motor spins the fan blade to move air through the humidifier pad. Replace the fan motor if it doesn't run.

GeneralAire humidifier maintenance tips

  • At the end of each heating season, turn off the water supply and electrical power to the humidifier. Remove the water cover, water reservoir, humidifier pad and drain pan. Clean mineral deposits from all humidifier parts using a 1:1 vinegar and water solution. Reassemble the humidifier.
  • Replace the humidifier pad.
  • Clean the water supply strainer screen and water supply orifice.
  • During the summer, close the air damper for the humidifier and leave the water supply and electrical power to the humidifier off.
