Adjusting belt tension on your Ryobi drill press

Unplug the drill press power cord to disconnect electrical power.
Make sure that pulleys are aligned properly as shown in the owner's manual before adjusting belt tension.
Unlock the belt tension by turning the lock knobs on each side of the drill press head counterclockwise.
Tighten the drill press belts by turning the belt tension handle clockwise.
Loosen the belts by turning the belt tension handle counterclockwise.
Belt tension is correct when the belt deflects approximately ½-inch when pressed at its center.
When belt tension adjustment is complete, tighten the tension lock knobs to lock belt tension.

Squaring the table to the head on your Ryobi drill press

Unplug the power cord to disconnect electrical power.
Insert a ¼-inch diameter, 3-inch long steel rod into the drill press chuck. Tighten the chuck jaws.
Raise the drill press table to the working height and lock the table in place.
Using a combination square, place one edge flat on the table and light the other edge vertically beside the rod.
If adjustment is needed, loosen the table locking set screw and bevel locking bolt. Rotate the table to align the combination square with the rod. Tighten the bevel bolt and set screw.
