Replacing the broil element in your Roper electric wall oven

  • Shut off the circuit breakers for the wall oven to completely disconnect electrical power.
  • Open the oven door and remove the oven racks. Remove the broil element mounting screws. Remove the broil element support mounting screws and remove the supports. Carefully pull the broil element forward to expose the wires connected to the back of the element. Disconnect the wires, taking care not to let the wires slip through the holes at the back of the oven. If the wires slip through the holes, you’ll need to pull the oven out of the cabinet and remove the back cabinet panel to retrieve them. Use pliers to pull the wires off the broil element if necessary. Remove the broil element.
  • Connect the wires to the broil element. Push the ends of the broil element through the holes in the oven cavity and reinstall the mounting screws. Reinstall the broil element supports and secure them with the mounting screws. Reinstall the oven racks and close the oven door.
  • Reset the house circuit breakers for the wall oven to restore electrical power to the appliance.

Replacing oven door hinges in your Roper electric wall oven

  • Fully open the oven door. Use a slot screwdriver to pry down the locking tabs to the unlocked position on both sides of the door. Raise the door to the broil stop position, which is about 1/4 open. Grip both sides of the oven door and then lift up and out to remove the door.
  • Carefully place the oven door face down on a padded surface, such as a towel-covered table. Using the type of screwdriver that fits the screws, remove the screws that secure the door handle to the top of the oven door. Remove the handle.
  • Remove the screws at the bottom of the oven door. Lift the inner door panel assembly off the outer door panel and set it on the padded surface.
  • Remove the 2 screws on the inner oven door panel that secure each door hinge in place. Pull the hinges up and out of the inner door panel.
  • Position the new door hinges in place in the inner door panel assembly. Insert the screws in the new door hinges and tighten the screws firmly.
  • Reassemble the door and reinstall the door on the oven.
