These do not have threads in bolt holes. Just glad i finally read reviews and remembered i had a tap and dye set. Should have read reviews before i bought. Never could get a person on phone.

Quality control failure or poorly-designed part?
Spindle assemblies did not come pre-threaded. In fact, two of the eight holes (two assemblies, thus eight holes) showed signs that someone had begun to pre-thread/machine the holes appropriately! So, you decide. The original housings came threaded, so it seems like a no-brainer that customers like me should not have to run out and buy a tool-and-die kit just to replace spindles. Some spindle assemblies are not required to be threaded but, in my opinion, this one is.

Took a while
Time consuming mainly because you need to remove the mowing deck. As usual, hardest part was loosening the nuts that held the blades in place. For around $10, I bought a gadget at Home Depot that is designed to hold blade in place. Works great. Replacing the spindles themselves was pretty easy. As usual, YouTube had a video to show you how to do it. Not sure I would have attempted without YouTube. Although I replaced the spindle successfully, it's a borderline call whether you should just have someone do it for you . If you have the money and don't have the time to do it (3 hours or more) , I'd suggest having a professional do this job.

You have to buy bolts?
I don't understand why the Mandrel did not come with the bolts required to use. Not just that, but they are self tapping bolts made to a certain dimension. So you are stuck purchasing the bolts from sears which was an additional $10 plus dollars for a set of four. And lets hope you get the bolts put in correctly (take your time) because if you don't you will spend more time trying to fix the unthreaded mandrel. It would have been awesome and sensible to have the mandrel already threaded and come with the bolts. Just my thoughts..

Holes not threaded
I sent this part back because the holes were not threaded. They sent me the same part back. Know wonder why Sears is going out of business. I will never buy a craftsman mower again. Customer service was terrible as well.
