Ground drive belt instillation
This is a difficult job when installing this belt. Plan on pulling the mower deck so you have room. You will also need to unbolt and lower the drive axel and lower the main pulley off the motor so you can instal this belt easily. I would not advise avoiding these steps or you will waste a lot more time trying.

It took me about 30 min to install, could have taken shorter time but I got back problems made it a little longer to do.

I had to loosen belt guide. Screws for this were not easy to get to.

Received faulty belt
By the look of the packaging and that fact that the belt shredded immediately after install tells me it must have been sitting on your shelf since the 60s.
