Simplified dispenser design

The new dispenser replaces the original part which recently failed to dispense rinse aid properly. The new design is simpler with just a single solenoid to release the detergent door thus has fewer moving parts. It took me some time to search online for instruction regarding how to install it. My outer door panel was somewhat rusted and attached tightly to the frame. I had to use a rubber mallet to pound it loose. Everything after then was easy. Be sure to center the new dispenser on the opening. The new part has a smaller footprint than the original one. Overall it is not bad except for the price. Seems too expensive for something which performs such a simple task.

Different design but perfect fit.

Old dispenser came off easy and new one goes on with existing brackets and screws. The only things that gave me problems were 1) The stainless steel inner door liner has edges that are razor sharp and I sliced my finger. 2) Prior to separating inner liner from outer door, Note how the interlock switch is mounted at the top of the door because it falls out when the panels come apart and hangs by the wires. I wish that I had made a mental note or taken some pics before it fell off. I had the dispenser replaced in under 30 minutes but re-assembling the door was a 90 minute process all because of that dang door interlock switch. Pay close attention when dismantling and this can be done in less than 60 minutes.

Replacement of a dishwasher detergent dispenser

The part arrived sooner than I expected. I watched a YouTube program to learn how to install it. No directions came with the part. It was not difficult to install, except that I am old and stiff which made getting down on the floor difficult. I was happy to save a service call fee.

Not the one that I needed

I waited the better part of 4-5 months for this part to arrive. Although I continued getting monthly updates letting me know it was back-ordered, when it finally arrived, it was different than the one that belonged with my dishwasher. Since my dishwasher was older, I was not totally surprised, But if there were 4 wires on my original device and only two wires on the new part, I would have expected some type of instruction or notice about how the new part was supposed to be wired up and work. Since I did not, I'm not inclined to wire it up and run the risk if burning something up.... I've decided to sent the part back.
