Absolutely necessary for a quiet dishwasher

You wouldn't think this tiny check valve was necessary to the proper functioning of the dishwasher, but in fact it is - without it, various impellers were squeaking/grinding. - in general making God-awful noises. My wife was going to make me buy a new dishwasher, when I stumbled on this part (or rather lack thereof when the original disintegrated) as being the cause of the grinding & squealing sounds

Check valve

Although I was assured this was the correct part for my model, it was impossible to replace this part in my dishwasher. The check valve was encased in another part & was inaccessible. The whole section needed to be replaced. We resolved the problem another way & didn't use the valve after all.
