Stove Top meets Spice jar
After learning a valuable lesson about storing spices above my glass stove top I purchased a new top from Parts Direct. Overall we are satisfied with the purchase. The part was easy to install without instructions (none were provided) though it was a bit tricky to remove and replace the burner elements which are bolted to the underside of the unit - recommend using two people. I was not thrilled to find that the metal edge on the new top had a chip on it right out of the box (white coating chipped away to expose black surface). The packaging hadn't been damaged so apparently it was deemed "good enough" by the folks at the factory. Not a big deal, just not the quality control I would have expected. The part also lacked a metallic tape that had been on the original (underside, bridging the metal-to-glass interface). Not quite sure what the tape was for, insulation or additional bonding of metal to glass? Doesn't seem to affect cooking but just a note of difference from the original.
