This friction wheel assembly works with the friction disc to transfer power to the drive wheels. If your snowblower won t move or lurches while operating, the friction wheel may be worn or damaged.
This part replaces 684-04159 and fits select MTD snowblower models. It helps restore smooth and reliable movement across snow-covered surfaces.
Disconnect the spark plug wire before starting. Wear gloves for protection and use a screwdriver and wrench to remove the old assembly and install the new one. Refer to your parts diagram for proper positioning during reassembly.

Fast Delivery
I bought it as a replacement if I could not adjust the existing friction wheel to make reverse work correctly. I cleaned the wheels and adjusted the cable and everything worked well. I will eventually use the replacement, but not this winter. It looks like a quality replacement part. The Blower is 9 years old.

Snowblower friction wheels
When disassembled until old parts came off, just reversed the way it came apart and kept everything organized on the bench and was a breeze. Took 90 minutes start to finish.

Order was canceled in direct. Intact with a CSR. And again with AI. Still delivered and cost me to return it. Schematic listed the incorrect part for my machine. So needless to say, disappointed
