Part is perfect replacement, wish it did not need to be.
The original part has a design fault (thin plastic around peg supporting a big weight). I tried work arounds but it did not work. Though GE claims the part is no longer manufactured, ordering through Sears at a higher price proved to be only way to get the part. The cover assembly comes with the glass shelf already mounted. It would be preferable to get the plastic assembly for a lower price and to remove the glass shelf from the damaged unit and mount it on the plastic assembly, which is easily done. There are no installation instructions however it is intuitive enough to figure it out how and no tools needed. Sears shipped from a local warehouse and got the part the next day.
