Kenmore Calypso top-load washer

The washer lost power during a cycle. Press Start to continue the cycle from the point that power was lost or press Stop/Cancel to clear the display and cancel the cycle.

Unplug the washer to see if it fills when the power is disconnected. If so, replace the water inlet valve assembly because a valve isn't shutting off water flow. If the washer isn't overfilled, replace the water level pressure switch because it isn't detecting water level accurately. Some models have a separate flood water level pressure switch to detect the overfill condition. Replace the flood water level pressure switch in those models.

The electronic control board failed to save cycle information during a power failure. Press Stop/Cancel to clear the display and set a new cycle to finish the load.

Make sure the water supply faucets behind the washer are fully open. Check the water fill lines for kinks or freezing in the winter. Check the water inlet valves. If the valves don't open when activated, unplug the washer and replace the water inlet valve assembly.

Unplug the washer and check the wire harness connections between the main electronic control board and the motor control board. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. Check the wire harness connections between the motor control board and the drive motor. Also check the wire harness connections between the drain pump and the motor control board because the motor control board also powers the drain pump. Reconnect any loose wires or replace any wire harness that's damaged. If the wire connections are okay, replace the motor control board. If the problem continues, replace the main electronic control board.

Check the house washer drain and clear any clogs. Check the drain hose and clear any kinks or clogs. Unplug the washer and drain the tub using a wet/dry shop vac. Check the hose between the tub and the drain pump and clear any clogs. Check the drain pump and clear any clogs. If the drain pump doesn't run when activated, check the wire harness connections between the motor control board and the drain pump. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire connections are okay, replace the drain pump.

Overloading the washer can prevent the drive motor from spinning. Fill the basket loosely with clothes but don't pack the garments down or continue to add clothes once the basket is full. Remove some clothes if you overfilled the washer. If you didn't overfill the washer, then the washer could have a defective drive motor or failed u-joint.

Unplug the washer and replace the main electronic control board.

The LS code appears if you press Start with the lid open. Close the lid before starting the cycle. Replace the lid switch if it isn't accurately detecting whether the lid is open or closed.

Use the correct amount of high efficiency detergent if you see excessive suds. Allow the washer to sit idle for 30 minutes to dissipate excessive suds and then run the Rinse/Spin cycle to drain the water. Start a new cycle without adding any detergent to rinse detergent out of the load.

Open the lid and redistribute the clothes inside the basket. Restart the washer to finish the cycle.
