Common parts to keep your LG air conditioner running smoothly

  • Air filter. Clean the air filter on your LG room air conditioner regularly. When the air filter wears out or gets damaged, replace it.
  • Ambient thermistor. The ambient thermistor is a temperature sensor that detects room temperature and sends signals to the electronic control board to help the air conditioner maintain the set room temperature. Replace the ambient thermistor if it doesn't detect room temperature accurately.
  • Blower fan motor. The blower fan motor spins the circulation fan blade to move air across the evaporator fins and into the room for cooling. Replace the blower fan motor if it doesn't run or it's noisy when running.
  • Electronic control board. The electronic control board detects sensor signals and controls the compressor and fans in the air conditioner. You may need to replace the electronic control board if the air conditioner doesn't work at all or it the control board doesn't send current to the compressor or fans.

How to troubleshoot your LG room air conditioner when it won't start

If your LG window air conditioner’s control panel powers up but the compressor and fans won't run, possible causes include an electronic control failure or a wiring problem. The window air conditioner also won't start if the electronic control detects a component problem such as a defective thermistor. Check the control panel for an error code, which usually indicates which component failed. To decipher an error code, check our error code tables or refer to your LG room air condition owner's manual.
