Here is a list of helpful reminders of what you should check before venturing out on the water in your boat.

• Make sure that you have a life jacket for every boat occupant and that the life jackets are easily accessible. Young children should wear their life jacket at all times when they're in the boat.
• You should have a horn capable of producing noise that is audible for at least a half mile on board your boat in case of an emergency.
• Check navigation lights to make sure they work properly before departing.
