Additional Information
Scraper blade 790-00117-0637 mounts along the bottom edge of the auger housing to shield the housing from wear and help clear snow down to the pavement. If your snowblower is leaving behind a layer of snow or showing signs of scraping or vibration, the blade may be worn and need replacement.
To install the new scraper blade, disconnect the spark plug wire and let the unit cool completely. Remove the hardware securing the old blade, then align the new one and fasten it in place. Wear work gloves to avoid contact with sharp edges during the process.
790-00117-0637 replaces part numbers 784-5576-0637 and 790-00117-0662.

I ordered from the wrong model number.
The scraper blade would be a straight forward replacement, but I ordered from the Craftsman model number and got a part for a 22" snowthrower. There is a MTD model number that correlates to the correct part that I'll be ordering once my return processes.

No common sense.
Website could not search the replacement part number from the machine's user manual. Had to have help from Chat to find the parts I needed. Price was WAY too high from Sears, could have picked up the parts for about half-price elsewhere. Chat person was able to find the scrape plate and the bolts, but forgot the nuts. Mailing did not need to be so expensive, or expedited; I'm not in a hurry, I'm fixing a snow-blower in April. The whole process lacked simple common sense and could have gone much easier if a little thought was put into it.
