Installation of Base
Be prepared to completely disassemble the base unit and remember where all the screws go. The top plastic housing is held by plastic taps on both sides - once all the screws were removed, the tabs were still holding the top cover in place. The foot pedal would not stay engaged, allowing the vacuum to fall back. First thought the foot pedal was broken, but after further investigation I discovered the plastic prongs where the foot pedal attached were broken off the base. Replacing this base piece fixed the problem.
