It does not fit mdl 917.380.390
This cable CAN BE MADE to fit the Craftsman mower mdl 917.380.390 . The length of 50 inches is GOOD. Both ends of the cable MUST be modified OR replaced. NEED Lineman pliers, metal shears.

Had a different mount than the original part, but it worked just fine. Had a little trouble mounting the engine end. Otherwise it would have only taken 10 minutes.
