This manufacturer-approved terminal nut (part number 8268548) for Kenmore Elite dishwasher model 66515953000 screws onto the heating element fitting that pokes through the bottom of the wash tub. The nut holds the element in place and helps keep water from leaking through the opening for the fitting.

Shut off the circuit breaker for the dishwasher to completely disconnect electric power before beginning to install the replacement terminal nut. Making the repair may require shutting off the water supply and pulling the unit out from under the counter. Consult the installation guide when pulling out the dishwasher.
To take off the existing terminal nut, detach the wire from the lead on the heating element, unscrew the nut and remove the seal. The seal normally needs to be replaced at the same time as the nut. Tighten the new nut until it sits firmly against the seal and the wash tub, but make sure not to cross-thread or overtighten it. A tight terminal nut can crack or damage the tub. Finish the repair by checking for leaks.
