My Mower Has Traction Again
June 01, 2022|Dave, MN

Seems to be made of a different compound than the original. Also feels more solid. The old wheels had broken through and were hollow inside. Installation instructions required replacing the dust shroud (included), which significantly complicated the process. Discovered a broken spring in the pinion assembly, so I guess it turned out well.

One propped mower and two caps and bolts later the old ones were off and the new ones on. Less than five minutes.

Mower Drive Wheels
June 06, 2020|Mike 4, Southeast MA

This is the easiest fix ever. Prop the rear of the mower on something--a bucket gives a good height. Pop the wheel covers, remove one bolt on each side, take the old wheels with the chewed up teeth off, and put the new ones on. The wheel covers fit much more tightly on the new wheels and take some whacking to seat them. If it takes more than 10 minutes, you dropped a bolt and couldn't find it for a bit. The other slight negative is that the original wheels had bronze sleeve bushings/bearings and the new is all plastic, but the mower is 17 or 18 years old and probably won't outlast the new wheels.

Internal plastic gear teeth
May 13, 2020|Handyman i V, Northern Virginia

The internal plastic gear teeth in the original part will strip out if someone pulls the mower backwards while it is in forward drive. The original part has ball bearings but the new replacement part has sleeve bearings instead.

Fast with the correct parts.
July 22, 2019|KSfarmer, St Mary's County, MD

Replacing the drive wheels on a Sears lawn mower is an inexpensive and easy way to fix or improve the self propelled feature. The drive teeth on the inside of the wheels wear down over the years and this is an easy replacement.

The Right Wheel for the Right Lawnmower
April 11, 2019|Mikeks1, Papillion NE

Actually ordered four replacement wheels for my 15-year-old lawnmower. The part numbers had changed over the years so I wondered if I was going to get the right ones. The wheels arrived in 2 shipments. I installed all four wheels in 15 minutes. Very easy! No problems! Fit perfectly!
