fast shipping, exact fit and easy to install
My previous cable snagged on a fire hydrant and yanked the cable out of the Control Cable lever assembly. The lever is not repairable, must get the lever and cable together as a full assembly. Replacement was an exact fit for my rather old Craftsman mower. Repair literally took less than 10 minutes. As when working with any power tools, ALWAYS FIRST DISCONNECT THE SPARK PLUG WIRE FROM THE SPARK PLUG TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL START OF THE ENGINE: (1- unbolt Control Cable lever from mower's Upper Handle, taking care to save existing bolt and hex nut 2)- remove Drive Cover over self-propelled belt and gear assembly (one 'pan head' bolt) to expose the Clutch 3) remove old cable end from self-propelled Clutch Lever 4) install new Control Cable assembly in reverse order taking care to correctly insert end of the Control Bar (aka 'dead man switch') into the Control Cable lever. When doing this, ensure the Control Cable lever and Control Bar are both in the up (disengaged) position. Reconnect spark plug wire and test cable functionality. If correctly installed, Control Lever should stay down (engaged) until you release the Control Bar (dead man switch).

This was a drive control cable/lever for a mower I purchased in 2004 (I installed new engine in 2016). I was very pleased that you still have parts for this mower chassis. This older chassis is far superior than the newer ones with controls that are much better suited for someone with arthritis. Installation was relatively easy.

Glad the drive unit was still available
Easy to install. Took about 30 minutes. Didn't come with a bolt and nut to attach to the handle (original got lost in grass). Had to find another pair in my extra nuts and bolts bin. Basic tools needed. Used zip ties (didn't come with) to make the cable lay correctly. If you're handy, it's no big deal.
