Nice to do the work myself.
It was easy to order the part (though avoid that subscription-based "free" mailing service which they try to sell by way of an outside vendor). The top panel must be removed (with two back screws), and then the control board. The real TRICK is to be sure to get the knob back on in the exact correct position (and not 180 degrees out like I first did). That same knob just pulls off with some force (as does its stem with pliers).
