Updated Replacement Part
The replacement assembly corrected original design errors in the as bought mower. Attachment bracket was beefed up, and more importantly, the control cable exited the handlebar on the correct side, the side that the drive engagement pulleys were located. The original unit had kinked the cable so much that the cable wire broke at the sharp bend of the kink.
