We connected the cable to the bar then pushed the bar onto the lawn mower handle and that was it. Less than a minute.

Correct part, works fine
This part is correct for the 961140003-02 mower. Very easy to install. If you're replacing this part because your old one was bent or broken at the hole where the cable attaches, replace the cable too. The root cause of this problem is that your cable is rusted inside the sheathing and takes too much force to pull. If you replace the broken bar and leave the old cable, it will break again.
