right- dryer door switch

my old switch had two prongs the new one had three-- put in the new switch connected the white wire to one of the gold looking prong -- the yellow wire to the other gold looking prong-- push the start button -- nothing happen. i call the repairman-- he came show him what i did -- he took the yellow wire and connected to the silver prong-- push the start button dryer start running like a champ !! he said that other prong is for dryers that has a light inside.-- WHEN YOU DONT KNOW -- he didnt charge me a service charge.! told me to have a good weekend.
