• Batch-feed switch. The batch-feed switch starts the garage disposal when you turn the drain stopper.
• Container O-ring. The container O-ring forms a seal between the container and the upper end bell.
• Drain stopper. The drain stopper helps prevent water from draining from the sink and through the garbage disposal.
• Shredder blade. The shredder blade attaches to the motor and spins to cut up food debris.

Cleaning your Hotpoint garbage disposal

• Unplug the garbage disposal power cord from the wall outlet to disconnect electrical power.
• Reach through the sink opening and clean the underside of the splash baffle and inside the upper lip of the grind chamber with a scouring pad.
• Place the stopper in the sink opening and fill the sink halfway with warm water.
• Mix ¼ cup of baking soda with the water in the sink.
• Plug the garbage disposal back in. Turn on the garbage disposal and remove the sink stopper at the same time to flush the garbage disposal with the water and baking soda solution.
