Replacing the transmission gear requires taking both side frames off mower so you can access the e-clip to set it free. On my Weedeater One I found the culprit to all my issues that caused gear wear and chain retention. The trans gear fits into a steel bushing that ground itself out by 1/2 and inch and was beyond belief destroyed. This caused the tranny gear to ride in a 1 inch slot instead of a 1/2 inch bushing hole. I ordered the new bushing which I recommend replacing both left and right side such that tranny gear rotates in new bushings. Bushings were cheap but reassembly was a bear. The motor floats above the gear box which floats around the frame which means you have 3 floating assemblies to align. I tried for an hour by myself and it was impossible but after my neighbor came over we were able to align together in 10 minutes. It is only a hard task if doing alone. After that the mower reassembled fast. Please also apply heavy bearing grease into the new bushings as steel shaft on steel bushing wears. They should have designed this as an oil empregnated brass or ball bearing. This is a design flaw but it was a cheap rider. Hope this helps someone.

This is not an easy install. If you have come this far to fix your tractor. It is advised you also order the 2 bushings for this axle as well as the 2 washers. I would also recommend replacing the rubber friction disk which can be found elsewhere online. That gives you a total refurbished trans for under $100. Take pictures as online schematics are blurry and confusing. Tools required.... ring pliers, reg pliers, flat head screwdriver, socket wrench and sockets and an impact drill will make quick work of many bolts. This installation requires removal of the rear underside. Motor removal is no necessary.
