The wrong part, but it still worked

This part was a suggested substitution for the original part, which was discontinued. It was not a perfect substitute, but with a little muscle, we got it to work for our drill press. We have a full woodshop and are handy at metal working, so it was moderately easy repair. I suspect the average person wouldn't be able to pull off this retrofitting of the spring.
