Took a little effort to install
Before installing the replacement ring gear I thoroughly cleaned the flywheel. This proved to not be enough to allow the plastic ring gear to fit. It was very close, and I got a section of 2x8" board in an attempt to tap the gear evenly onto the flywheel. Still the ring gear would not fit. I decided to get my dremel and flapper wheel and continue to clean up the flywheel, (which was already shiny) as well as remove a small amount from the ring gear. Once again I placed the ring gear in position and used my board and a hammer to tap the ring gear evenly into place on the flywheel, and this time it went a little at a time. I have replaced the steel ring gears before with little effort, but it seems the plastic gear was manufactured a few thousandths of an inch to small. (My opinion only). This was my first time replacing a plastic ring gear so it's possible there are some tricks I don't know. I considered placing the ring gear in the sun to see if heat would cause some expansion but at the time it was cloudy so I proceeded as I described.
