Used a nut driver to align the base locking nut and the pad to the base platform for gluing. No instructions sent how to install pad or type of glue to use.

The product was not a direct replacement for my 1975 vintage Sears Buffer/Polisher as indicated on the parts diagram found on the Sears wqeb page. the part was a manufacturers replacement part. This part did not come with the backer plate. To attach it to the backer plate I had to scrape off the old pad, remove the glue residue with xylene, and use contact cement to affix the new pad. I also removed backer plate from the unit to make it easier to center the new pad and clean the glue off the backer plate. This requires a screw driver to slip into the hole on the rim of backer plate to keep the plate from turning and a 1/2 socket to remove the attaching bolt. Ti is a left hand thread so turn it clockwise to loosen it. Xylene will disolve plastic so use it sparingly and wipe it off as soon as the glue is soft and can be scrapped off with a putty knife. I did a small area at a time. Also do this out side and stand with the wind at your back. Let the backer plate set for at least an hour outside to allow the xylene to completely evaporate. Quality of the pad seems quite good.
