Easy to install but the spindle assembly (a separate part) must be attached first.

sheet metal part doomed to fail.
April 09, 2018

The issue as I see it is the thickness of the sheet metal that they form this part out of. The vibration of the head of the line trimmer caused it to crack completely across through the bolt holes that hold the head assembly onto the chassis plate cover. It is easy to replace, I would recommend at least using blue locktite, and if replacing the plate, be sure and screw all your screws into the old plate and the aluminum head prior to ordering parts. Sears is very proud of their fasteners, at 3 bucks apiece. We tried to tig weld the plate but the metal is just to thin to get an adequate weld, and I suspect that the metal would crack on one side or the other of the weld. The rest of the machine seems pretty well designed, so this appears to be the real Achilles heel of the whole assembly.
