Tricky to install

A video of prying out the old and putting in the new wouldn't be pretty. BUT it was an exact fit, and the stupid vacuum works a bit better now - at least it isn't making black streaks from the rollers on my tile now!

Wearing out rugs and beater bars? This helps

Was missing on vacuum cleaner for years. Didn't know it existed. Didn't understand why different height settings seemed to make no difference. Didn't know why the roller brush thing - I forget what it is called, a beater bar? - kept breaking or wearing out, and wondered why some parts of the carpets were worn awfully thin. Somehow figured out that this piece was missing. Easy to install if the base plate is not broken. Ours was, so this was easy to replace once the base plate got replaced, a less easy job. Just snap it in, being careful not to break the plastic on the base plate. The vacuum is a kenmore progressive and it works so well in spite of its age that I am glad to keep it going with periodic parts replacement.

Front axle replacement

It would be nice to see a schematic blowup of assembly and disassembly. Pointing out pry points and direction. Everything is plastic so be careful. If you can direct me to a site like this then by all means please share !

Front axel assembly

We received the part we needed which was correct. However, there is no place in the book that comes with the vacuum that tells us how to replace or install the part.. It looks simple, but we were unable to do it. We tried calling Sears Parts direct and they were unable or couldn't get a tech to tell us how to do it. They didn't seem to know how. Spent quite some time on the phone. We ended up trying to find a vacuum repair in our area and located one about 60 miles from where we live. There is no Sears store in a 60 mile radius of us. The sears direct said they would call back but might be some time before they do. I didn't find them very helpful.

Wrong part X3

I ordered three times - each time I received the wrong part - even when I gave them the serial number of the vacuum Very frustrating - When pandemic is over I'll go to a local vacuum dealer to get the right part!!!
