The alternate blade fit my edger.
Computer search on the Sears page was a waist of time. The online chat solved the problem and found an alternate blade that would work.

Sidewalk Edger Blade Change
The Blade was Easy to install on the edger. Remember that the nut is threaded with left hand threads.

So happy to find that this is still available!
I last bought these in 2018. I saved the original package and tried to find them using the owner's manual number and both the Sears '71' series code number and the UPC code, and every time it came back as discontinued or not available. Wire brushed the old blade and found a stamped number on it. Bingo, it came back as an OEM number at Sears Partsdirect! It did not include the tension washers shown in the picture above, but those things are available at any hardware store.
