saved my compressor

After honing the cylinder, that part is no longer available, installed the new piston ring , and I have a compressor again. I didn't realize it was taking longer to fill my tank than what it use to, until replacing the piston ring. Used hot water to soften the ring to install it in the cylinder. The entire job was relatively easy. Also cleaned the intake valve plate. Now I have to find something to use for intake air filter. another part no longer available?

It was easy to install. Only three tools needed to complete the installation. Torx screwdriver, 5/8" open end wrench and a small socket with handle.

I love Craftsman because they're like Chevrolet - you don't change things just for the sake of change. My 20 year old compressor is now like new again, because the parts are still available, just like my 20 year old Blazer

It's an easy fix however the cylinder was seiously scored and the part is no longer available. It's no wonder they discontinued oiless compressors. There is nothing to keep the "piston" seal from rocking in the cylinder so it amazed me that the new seal worked. But once the sheetmetal "cylinder" wears through I'll have to buy a new compressor.
