Critical part still available after 30 years
My 30 year old Sears10" Radial Arm Saw began to fail a year or so ago as the motor would only start one time in five tries. At first I tried to purchase a replacement motor but found them no longer in stock/manufactured. I was able to us the saw for a couple of small projects since last fall but when I tried recently it failed to run no matter what I did. I went to the Sears Parts Direct website and found some of the 151 parts still available but most were "No longer manufactured or available". I copied and pasted the capacitor part number hoping that by doing so and entering it into a parts direct home page search I might get lucky. Sure enough one was and I received it two days later. I have been a Sears customer since 1961 and am amazed at how long they try to keep parts and support available. The capacitor did the trick and the otherwise perfect saw sprang back to life after a 10 minute parts swap out.
