Repair gear set for garage door opener.

Wasn't that hard to install and a whole lot less money than buying a new complete unit.

Got it to work

The good news is that is worked, the bad, I had to modify and go without some replacement pieces. It took a while but not surprising as the amount of small pieces I had to get to. The online video was instrumental in getting through the whole process. There was a missing spacer or something that wasn't included in the new package and the piece didn't all look like the original. The mounting bracket as you can see in the picture (round metal piece that sits on top of the garage door) should have a flat edge to fit inside the housing. Seeing as the solid steel construction of the housing and the bracket could not be bent, I had to saw/file off a chunk of metal to get it to fit inside the housing. Too much work! Also the bearing that the central shaft is on was a little too stiff/tight. I decided to remove the replacement and put back in the original which was slightly looser. I didn't want that bearing to be so stiff it would make all the plastic gears I replaced strip immediately! Seriously the bearing was so tight I had to use a hammer to get the shaft in the first time! I got through it all and have it working properly, too much work for Chinese "OEM" parts.

Replacing opener gear sprocket assembly

The most time consuming was removing the power unit from the track

I thought that putting the parts together and installing it where not very hard. However, when I finished and pushed the start button, my garage door opener did not react like it had for all those years. I don't know if I did something wrong or what. I attempted to try several things to try to get in working properly. I tried for a goo two to three day's. I had to call Sears and ask for a person to come to my home to hopefully get my opener to work properly.

garage opener replacement part.

The replacement parts worked exactly as expected. I would suggest using the youtube video repair instructions in addition to the paper.

I would buy again

Parts arrived on time. Instructions were easy to understand. Gear and sprocket unit was easy to install and setting limit switches was good with the detailed instructions.
