The wrong part was sent
I have an older Kenmore washer and the part I tired to order had the same part number as a different part on a newer washer. I spent a lot of time with the service representative going over the problem including having him look at the part I needed in an online manual so that he understood the problem. Unfortunately, I still received the wrong part. Obviously, the part was useless. I had to repair the old part and reinstall it to get my washer working again. Thus, the questions below don't make sense.

Easy install.
It was an easy install. I also installed a new internal drain hose as I had easy access to it. Took probably 10 minutes as the back was already off the washer. Drained and cleaned the trap out while the washer e down. I hadn't done that in a while. Found some items in there.

VERY EASY TO INSTALL
Once you remove the top of the washer it is very easy to install. It took about 15 minutes to do the job.
