The MTD Line Trimmer Recoil Starter Assembly (part number 75308668) spins the flywheel to start the engine and includes the recoil starter cover for a complete replacement.
If you have difficulty starting the engine or the starter rope does not retract, the recoil starter assembly may be worn or damaged. Replacing the assembly can restore proper engine starting and improve the trimmer?s reliability.
Before installing the recoil starter assembly, turn off the line trimmer and disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Wear work gloves to protect your hands during installation. Use a screwdriver to remove the old assembly and attach the new one securely. Refer to the service manual for your model or consult a technician if you need help with installation.
