Easy to install

Replaced the old valve because the pilot light would not remain lit after the burner went off. Tested the thermocouple and it registered 22 (milliamps?). When I relit the pilot, using the new valve, it again extinguished after the burner heated up the water and shut off. I have also replaced the entire burner assembly ( burner, thermocouple, and pilot) with the same results. I do not know what the problem is, being that I have replace the main components of the gas delivery system with all new components from Sears.

This was not very hard to install, the hardest part is making sure that the water lines are totally disconnected from the hot water tank. If you leave the hot water line connected to the tank, any accidental setting a single handle sink valve to the middle will send water back into the tank through the hot water line, thus making it necessary to once again drain the hot water tank. If your hot water tank is in a tight area and you don't have room to use a pipe wrench to remove the thermostat, a large vise clamp can be used as a tool to allow you to get enough torque to loosen the thermostat and then to tighten the new one back onto the hot water tank. If you don't have a gas sensor in your possession, it would be a good idea to purchase one, that way you have a good tool for checking any gas leaks before you light the pilot light on your hot water tank, and a great tool for checking any other gas appliances you have in your home for potential leaks.
