Why doesn’t my range hood work?
If the range hood doesn’t work at all, check whether the house circuit breaker has tripped; if so, reset it. A break in the power supply wiring also would prevent the range hood from powering up.
If the range hood has power, the problem could be with the electronic control board or the selection switches.
Why don’t the range hood lights work?
If the range hood lights don’t come on but the fan works, check whether the light bulbs are burned out. If the light bulbs aren’t burned out, the vent hood may need a new electronic control board or light switch. A wiring failure can also cause this problem. Check the wiring connections.
Why doesn’t the range hood fan work?
If the range hood fan doesn’t work but the lights come on, remove the filters and check the fan blade to see if it's jammed or blocked. If you can manually rotate the fan blade, the fan blade could be defective.
If the fan motor isn’t being activated, the problem could be with the control board or fan switch.
A failure in the wire harness could also prevent the fan from running.

Can my range hood be vented into the attic?
Range hoods can’t be vented to the attic. Range hoods should be vented to the outside of your home through a proper exhaust vent duct system. Most models can be configured to recirculate the exhaust air through a charcoal filter and back into the kitchen space. Venting the range hood to the attic or similar space inside the home isn’t recommended because the exhaust air is laden with flammable grease and odors.
How do I clean the range hood grease filter?
Clean the range hood’s grease filter by washing it in warm water and a mild detergent. You can also wash most grease filters in your dishwasher. Rinse the grease filter well and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Refer to your owner’s manual for more guidelines.
Can the range hood charcoal filter be washed?
The range hood’s charcoal filter can’t be washed. Replace it every 6 months to 1 year. Replace the charcoal filter immediately if it becomes clogged with grease or residue.
Why is the range hood fan noisy?
Range hood fan noise can be caused by loose installation mounting screws in the range hood. Tighten any loose screws in the brackets and body of the range hood that fasten the range hood to the back wall and upper cabinet. Also tighten loose screws or bolts that secure the fan motor to the fan mounting bracket. An unbalanced or loose fan blade can cause vibration noise. Check the fan blade for damage or looseness. Tighten or replace the fan blade if necessary.
What type of cleaner can I use on the range hood?
Range hoods should be washed regularly with a clean cloth, warm water and mild detergent. Rinse well with clean water and dry immediately. Use manufacturer-recommended stainless-steel polish on stainless-steel range hoods. Refer to your owner’s manual for specific guidelines on cleaning the range hood.
What are sones?
A sone is a standard unit of loudness. The sone rating is used to compare the noise output of range hoods when the exhaust fan is running. One sone is approximately the equivalent of a small desk fan. Normal conversation is about 4 sones.
