The articulating door mullion (also called the flipper mullion), located on the left side door, consists of the 120-volt AC heater, the external spring and an upper and lower hinge. It can be replaced as an assembly or as individual parts.

This DIY repair video shows how to replace the flipper mullion.

Follow these steps to remove the flipper mullion:

  1. Unplug the refrigerator to disconnect electrical power.

  2. Open the left-side refrigerator door and flip the mullion assembly out.

  3. Use a small, flat-bladed screwdriver to pry off the 2 screw caps at the center hinge to expose the 2 Phillips-head mounting screws.

  4. Remove the bottom hinge spring by pulling the spring off the hinge.

  5. Remove the 2 Phillip-head screws from the center hinge.

  6. Grasp the flipper mullion at both ends and lift straight up in order to clear the support tabs at the top and bottom hinge.

  7. Pull the flipper mullion slightly away from the door liner and disconnect the wiring harness.

  8. Remove the flipper mullion.

You can order a new flipper mullion assembly or other parts for your refrigerator by keying the model number of your fridge into the search bar at the top of this web page.
