How to lubricate snowblower wheels video

less than a minute readOct 29Wayne Archer

Keeping your snowblower wheels properly lubricated helps prevent them from seizing and makes it easier to maneuver your machine through snow. Over time, moisture and salt can cause the wheel hubs and axles to corrode or stick, especially if the snowblower is stored for long periods without maintenance.

This video explains how to remove the snowblower wheels and lubricate the axles to keep your machine rolling smoothly through the snow.

For advice on diagnosing snowblower problems and installing replacement parts in your snowblower, see PartsDirect's snowblower repair help.

Before performing any type of maintenance or service, remove the key from the snow thrower, disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it against the engine to prevent unintended starting. Follow the maintenance schedule written in the operator's manual.

Some service procedures require you to tip the snow thrower up on the auger housing. If your snow thrower has drift cutters, you will have to move them out of the way.

  1. Remove the lower wing nut and the bolt of one of the drift cutters.

  2. Loosen the upper wing nut and bolt.

  3. Pivot the drift cutter down and retighten the wing nut.

Do this for the other drift cutter.
