Clear the lint

Lint accumulates on a regular basis in dryer vents. When this occurs, it not only poses a fire hazard, but it also can keep the dryer from drying clothes to completion. Detach the dryer vent that connects the dryer to the outside of the house, and remove all lint that you find inside it. Try drying another load of laundry to see if your dryer is producing enough heat again. Remember that heavy items such as towels or the waistbands of jeans may not get completely dry in a normal load.

Check the timer

The dryer's timer sits right behind the knob you use to set each load's drying time. It's one of the key dryer repair parts that tells the motor and the heating elements when to turn on and off. If the electrical elements inside the timer don't make contact, the dryer is unlikely to start or heat properly. If you find a problem with your dryer's timer, replace it.

Check the thermostat

The next step in dryer troubleshooting is the operating thermostat. Inside the dryer's drum, the operating thermostat measures the heat and cycles the heating element on and off to maintain a constant temperature. If your clothes are coming out of a load still damp, the thermostat may not be functioning properly. Replace it to get the heat to come on again.
