The Exact Part

This item was relatively easy to install. I turned off the water and since there was a vacuum I didn't have to empty the water. I screwed a 5 inch pipe into the gas inlet hole and turned counter clockwise. I had this new unit ready, taped with the teflon plumbers tape ready to go. Water will escape, but minimally. Screw the new one in hand tight, screw the pipe into the inlet and tighten the gas valve clockwise until you feel a good amount of resistance. Make it horizontal, screw the gas pipes in and hook in the control wires. Turn the gas on and check for gas leaks. Follow instructions on how to light the pilot. Good to go.

Exact Replacement Part

No problem with the part or installing. Sears had the part for the best price, which would make since because I bought the water tank from sears. The only reason its not 5 stars is because of shipping. I couldn't get it express and to wait 6 days for delivery. As you could imagine the strain of not hot water. Overall great.

Very easy to install

It was easy to install only took about 20 minutes came with all things needed and instructions were easy to use.

Watched a youtube video to learn how to do it.

Replaced heater control / thermostat valve. also , did a draining of the water heater .

Was broken right outta the box!

Right out of the box the device was faulty. It wasn't letting enough natural gas into the burner box to create combustion yet the pilot light was on. Got another device of the same type from somewhere else and right away we had combustion and hot water.
