Troubleshooting tips for your Emerson equipment

• Your air conditioner typically stops blowing out cold air for two main reasons. Either the fan is malfunctioning and cold air isn't being pushed inside your house, or there's a problem with the compressor and cold air isn't being produced.
• Air conditioners also have electronics to control the temperature and operational parameters. Components on these circuit boards can fail, leaving your unit unable to run.
• Air purifiers are great for keeping the air in your home clean, but the air filter needs to be cleaned or changed on a regular basis to avoid particles clogging the intake. They also have fans inside of them that can break as result of wiring problems or motor failures.
• Humidifiers can encounter issues if the drain line gets clogged. Water can spill over inside the unit, destroying electronic parts.
• The whole house fan sucks hot air out of your house through a hole, usually located in the attic of a house. If the fan blades become damaged or the fan is stopped completely by foreign objects falling into the vent hole, the fan motor can get stressed and burn out.

Fixing your air conditioner

If your air conditioner is working poorly, then there are a few quick things you can check to try and remedy the situation. Start with the air filter. A clogged air filter will quickly degrade the quality of climate control from the air conditioner, and it is also something that gets commonly overlooked. Next, check for warm air leaking in. Regardless of how powerful your air conditioner is, if there's hot air leaking in from the outside, it won't feel very cool. Also, be sure that the air conditioner isn't too close to the television or any appliance that puts off excess heat. It can fool the thermostat on the air conditioner into thinking it's warmer than it is inside and run too long.
