Resolving Jacobsen equipment complications

• Won’t cut grass—Your mower may be running fine, but you still notice it's not cutting the grass. When this happens, you likely have a problem with your blade belt. If you notice the belt is damaged, then it's time to get a new one.
• Dead battery—If you haven’t been using your tractor often, the battery may lose its charge. Try charging the battery fully. If you notice it’s not charging, then you'll need to purchase a new one.
• Leaking oil—Equipment that leaks oil could just be overfilled. If the oil passes the line on the dipstick, then drain it until it's level. Leaking oil can also be caused by worn gaskets. Inspect the gaskets and replace as necessary.
• Slides to neutral—When a tractor has an automatic transmission, it can be dangerous if it slides into neutral. You’ll need to adjust the shift lever to eliminate this problem.
• Brake release stops engine—The switch seat could be unplugged if you find that the engine dies when you release the brake. A broken switch will need to be replaced before continuing operation.

• Grass catcher attachment—The grass catcher collects lawn clippings, giving your lawn an overall better appearance. Should you notice the clippings blowing out from under the mower deck, the catcher will need to be emptied. If the problem persists, then the attachment may be broken and will need to be replaced.
• Spark plug—A spark plug is used to ignite a spark from the engine when you start the ignition. Spark plugs typically need to be replaced periodically when they wear out. An engine that won’t start is a good indicator that you need to replace the plug.
• Blade—Blades are vital for cutting grass, but after some time, they can wear out. If you notice your grass isn't being cut evenly or at all, then the blade is probably dull. Try sharpening the blade to solve the problem. If this doesn't help, then you'll want to replace it.
• Carburetor—A carburetor mixes air and fuel to power your engine. The carburetor can become clogged at times if you don't frequently change the fuel filter. When this happens, you’ll need to rebuild or replace the carburetor to continue use.
• Ignition coil—The ignition coil is what transfers energy to the spark plug, allowing it to spark and rev up your engine. If the coil becomes damaged, it can't produce this energy and will prevent the engine from running. To solve this problem, you’ll want to replace the ignition coil.
