Whirlpool 596 72012016 Overlay (Touch Pad)

The refrigerator temp control was stuck at 33F. The fridge up/down temp buttons were inop, the freezer up/down buttons worked fine along with the other function buttons. I found a post in a forum that stated the same issue was resolved by replacing the overlay/touch pad. So I ordered the overlay. It's basically a thin, sandwiched together circuit board with LEDs, buttons, and a ribbon connector that's held onto the outside of the housing by 3M tape. The main housing that it's attached to is held in place by plastic clips. Once you figure out how to remove it from the refrigerator and separate the front housing it's a simple a repair. Unpeel the defective overlay and peel, stick, and plug the connector into the circuit board. Once everything was reassembled, it worked fine. No more milk flakes in the morning!
