How to Replace a Vacuum Power Head Ribbed Drive Belt

This DIY repair guide gives instructions on how to replace a beater bar ribbed drive belt on a canister vacuum. The ribs on the drive belt grip the beater bar, turning the beater bar when the drive motor starts. If the drive belt is worn or broken, the beater bar won't turn. Replace the ribbed drive belt with the manufacturer-approved replacement part.

This basic repair procedure works for common Kenmore, Whirlpool, Electrolux, Miele and Panasonic canister vacuum cleaners.

If your vacuum's drive belt is cogged instead of ribbed, see How to Replace a Vacuum Power Head Cogged Drive Belt.
